But now it's over: A 30-year-old German man was arrested in Spain as the alleged operator. Investigators secured assets worth millions. And not only sellers, but also buyers are now targeted by law enforcement.
What was Archetyp Market?
"Archetyp Market" was, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), one of the oldest and most active Darknet marketplaces worldwide. Drugs such as heroin, cocaine, cannabis, amphetamines, and even fentanyl were sold on the platform – sometimes in large quantities. The platform recently counted:
- 17,000 sales listings
- 612,000 registered customer accounts
- An estimated trade volume of 250 million Euros
Payment was made not with Euros or Dollars, but with the anonymous cryptocurrency Monero, which is particularly difficult to trace.
