MyFormatConverter 11: Engelmann Software Introduces AI Video Upscaling and Comprehensive Video Editing
The new major version enhances old film footage, upscales videos using artificial intelligence to up to 4K, and supports Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Dortmund, October 28, 2026. Engelmann Software GmbH is releasing MyFormatConverter 11. The new major version develops the existing video and audio converter into a versatile tool for editing and optimizing digital media. In addition to converting numerous file formats, the software now offers AI-powered video upscaling, automatic image enhancement, and tools for removing unwanted image content.
The new version is particularly interesting for users who want to watch older home videos, digitized VHS recordings, or camcorder footage on modern televisions and other devices.
Enhance Old VHS Recordings and Home Videos
Old video recordings often suffer from low resolution, image noise, flickering, line jumps, or faded colors. MyFormatConverter 11 offers various tools to reduce such image issues.
The automatic image optimization analyzes the video material scene by scene and adapts the corrections to the respective image conditions. Colors, contrast, and sharpness can be improved, distracting black bars removed, and typical image defects of older recordings reduced.
An integrated before-and-after preview allows users to assess the effect of the settings before the actual processing.
In addition to older videos, current recordings can also be optimized or stylistically altered using various film looks.
AI Upscaling Brings Low-Resolution Videos Up to 4K
One of the most important new features is AI-powered video upscaling based on Real-ESRGAN.
Unlike conventional upscaling, image information is analyzed using artificial intelligence, and additional details are calculated. Videos can be upscaled to double their original resolution, Full HD, or up to 4K.
The software offers different processing models for real film footage and animated material. Users can choose between faster processing and higher image quality.
The calculations are performed by the graphics card. Numerous graphics units from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel, as well as Macs with Apple chips, are supported. The actual speed depends on the performance of the hardware.
So that users know what to expect before processing, MyFormatConverter performs a brief performance test and displays the estimated processing time.
How significantly the image quality can be improved depends on the source material.
Remove Station Logos and Anonymize Faces
MyFormatConverter 11 expands the video editing capabilities with several practical tools.
Distracting station logos or fixed overlays can be marked and automatically removed from the image. Conversely, users can add their own logos or watermarks and determine their position, size, and transparency.
For privacy protection, faces, license plates, name tags, and other image areas can be blurred or pixelated. Multiple areas can be edited simultaneously.
In addition, videos can be trimmed at the beginning and end, existing audio tracks removed, or replaced with custom music.
Convert Videos to 3D and Create Slideshows
MyFormatConverter 11 also offers various features for creative design.
Standard 2D videos can be converted into various 3D formats. Supported formats include red-cyan displays for corresponding glasses, as well as side-by-side and top-and-bottom for suitable 3D televisions.
With the integrated slideshow tool, users can combine photos and short video clips into a movie. Transitions, zooms, captions, and background music create a personalized presentation.
The automatic image optimization can also improve the photos used before creation, if desired.
Video and Audio Conversion with Hardware Acceleration
Classic format conversion remains a central feature of the software.
MyFormatConverter 11 supports MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WebM, and MPEG-2, as well as the video codecs H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1. For audio files, formats such as MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, Opus, and OGG are processed.
Pre-configured device profiles make conversion easier for iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Smart TVs, and Apple TV. Alternatively, users can set all settings themselves.
Larger media collections can also be processed automatically. Entire folders and drives can be converted while maintaining their original folder structure.
Recordings from satellite and cable receivers are also detected and repaired during conversion if necessary.
The software uses supported hardware from Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD, as well as Apple chips, to accelerate processing. Three performance levels allow the adjustment of the computer's resource utilization, even during an ongoing process.
The range of features is further expanded by reading audio CDs, burning audio CDs, creating video DVDs with menu structures, and burning data discs for data backup.
A License for Windows, Mac, and Linux
With MyFormatConverter 11, Engelmann Software offers a cross-platform solution.
The premium licenses apply regardless of the operating system used. A user who purchases a license for three devices can, for example, use the software on a Windows PC, a Mac, and a Linux computer, or any other combination of supported systems.
The software is available in eleven languages and is offered as a perpetual license without a subscription.
