Photomizer SDK: Image optimization based on the principle of "pixels in, pixels out"
Engelmann Software provides its proven optimization technology as a lean, cross-platform library for desktop and mobile applications
Dortmund, September 14, 2026 – Software manufacturers and developers can now integrate Photomizer's image optimization directly into their own applications. The new Photomizer SDK provides the classic optimization functions of the software as a native library for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. A flat C interface and a ready-made wrapper for .NET facilitate integration into various development environments.
The SDK works on a deliberately simple principle: pixels in, pixels out. The calling application passes an image buffer and receives the optimized image back. File access, decoding, metadata, and color management remain within the respective application. This means the library has no additional dependencies and can be integrated into existing processing chains without dictating their architecture.
"If you want to integrate reliable image optimization into your product, you don't have to develop your own engine first," says Pit Engelmann, Managing Director of Engelmann Software GmbH. "With the Photomizer SDK, we provide our technology, which has been continuously developed over many years, as a clearly defined building block. Developers retain their own pipeline and decide for themselves where and how the optimization is used."
Automatic correction and targeted editing
The range of functions includes automatic optimization of color, contrast, sharpness, and white balance, as well as tools for brightness, saturation, color temperature, highlights, and shadows. In addition, there is noise reduction, sharpening, and red-eye correction. Creative effects such as vignette, tilt-shift, sepia, film grain, and grayscale, as well as functions for cropping, rotating, and scaling, are also available.
The SDK is designed for processing individual images as well as for automated processes and larger image quantities. Possible applications include photo and scanning programs, archiving and document solutions, printing and photo services, media management, mobile photo applications, and individual production and agency workflows. Thus, the library specifically focuses on the classic optimization and editing functions of Photomizer.
One interface for numerous development environments
For each target platform, developers receive a native library and a C header file. A ready-made wrapper is also included for .NET and C#. Due to the flat C interface, the SDK can also be accessed from other environments that can call C functions. These include Python, Java and Kotlin, Swift and Objective-C, Go, Node.js, and Rust.
Supported are:
- Windows x64 and ARM64 from Windows 10 or Windows 11 on ARM
- macOS from version 13 on Apple Silicon and Intel processors
- Linux x64
- Android from version 7.0 or API 24
- iOS for devices and simulators
Offline licensing and testing option
Licensing is offline and does not require a separate license server. This makes the SDK suitable for applications and work environments without a permanent internet connection. Commercial terms depend individually on platforms and scope of use.
For an initial integration test, Engelmann Software provides the appropriate library, the header or .NET wrapper, and a temporary test license. Interested companies only need to provide information about the desired target platform and programming language, as well as some sample images.
