Getting Started

Photomizer 4 is divided into two areas: the single image view for targeted editing of a photo and batch processing for many images at once. Here's how to edit your first photo:

Open image. Drag and drop a photo into the window or select it via "Open". Multiple images will appear in the file list.
Select tools. Activate the desired tools on the left – for example, "Optimize". Each tool can be expanded and fine-tuned.
Check preview. The result appears immediately in the center. Use the before/after comparison to see the difference.
Save. "Save As" prompts for format and quality and saves the finished image – the original remains untouched.

Tip: The order of the tools is fixed and logically arranged. You don't need to worry about the processing order – just activate what you need.

Without a license, Photomizer 4 runs as a demo version for trial. You can see which edition is currently active in the window title and under "About Photomizer 4".

License

Activate License

After purchase, you will receive a license key. This will unlock your edition:

Open the activation dialog ("Activate" button or upon first start).
Enter the license key. The recognized edition will be displayed directly.
Confirm. Photomizer 4 activates the license online and unlocks the tools.

An existing activation continues to work without a constant internet connection. Only occasional online verification is required.

Tools at a Glance

The classic tools operate directly on your device – without internet. Which ones are available depends on your edition.

Classic Tools

Optimize: Automatic correction of contrast, color, and sharpness – plus optional pseudo-HDR effect.
Eye Correction: Removes red eyes in humans and glowing animal eyes. Strength adjustable.
Size & Rotation: Change size in pixels or percent, select interpolation, rotate, flip, straighten, and crop.
Smooth: Gentle blurring for calmer areas and softer edges.
Noise Reduction (Pro): Removes image noise, e.g., from high ISO shots. Strength and color noise separately adjustable.
Effects: Looks like black and white, sepia, vintage, Polaroid, Kodachrome, Lomograph, oil painting, and more.
Watermark: Text or image as a watermark – with position, size, color, and opacity.
Negative: Inverts all colors (negative effect).
Tilt-Shift: Miniature effect with sharp focus band – position, bandwidth, and strength adjustable.
Frames: Frame styles from simple to Polaroid to vignette.
Distortion: Corrects lens distortions (e.g., barrel distortion).
Repair (Brush): Paints over scratches, spots, or minor image flaws – without an AI model.

AI Tools

The AI tools are part of the Ultimate Edition and require a one-time loaded model – see AI Tools & Models.

AI Upscale: Increases resolution with AI by 2x, 3x, or 4x – with significantly more detail than classic enlargement.
Colorize: Automatically and naturally colors black and white photos.
Restore: Refreshes old photos and adds color to the image.
Cut Out: Separates the subject from the background – result transparent, white, or black.
Remove Object: Removes distracting objects and fills the gap to match the surroundings.

Save

Saving Images

Using "Save As", you define the format and quality. Photomizer 4 supports among others JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, and AVIF.

Web Export: Creates multiple sizes from one image at once – practical for websites and shops.
Transparency: For cropped subjects with transparent backgrounds, choose a format with transparency (PNG or WebP). JPEG fills transparency with white.
Retain File Date: Optionally, the output file retains the original's creation/modification date.

Batch Processing

Batch processing applies the same edits to many photos (Premium and Ultimate Editions).

Load the images into the file list.
Set the desired tools.
Select a destination folder and start the batch export.

In the progress view, you can continuously see how many images are finished, in progress, or still in the queue.

Automatic

Hot Folder

The hot folder monitors a folder and processes every new image fully automatically with your selected tools.

First, set the desired tools in the single image view.
Open the hot folder and select a monitoring folder and an output folder.
Start monitoring. Every image that lands in the folder will be automatically optimized and saved.

Ideal for scanners, camera import, or photo series: set it up once, then Photomizer 4 handles the optimization in the background.

Artificial Intelligence

AI Tools & Models

The AI tools compute locally on your device. For this, an AI model is downloaded once for each tool. This happens via the model management in the app.

Select an AI tool (e.g., "Cut Out"). If the model is missing, Photomizer 4 will offer to download it.
Download the model once. After that, it will be permanently available offline.
Apply the tool as usual.

The models can be several hundred megabytes in size depending on the tool. An internet connection is required for the initial download – not afterwards.

Try It Out

Demo Version

Without a license, Photomizer 4 runs as a demo. This allows you to test the classic tools at your leisure. Two limits apply:

5 images per day can be saved.
The demo runs for 15 days.

The AI tools are reserved for the Ultimate Edition. In the app's footer, you can always see how many images you have left for today and how many days remain.

Internet: for activation and initial model download.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my original image be changed?

No. Photomizer 4 always writes the result to a new file. Your original remains unchanged.

Does the app work offline?

The classic tools work completely offline. You only need internet for activation and the one-time download of AI models.

Why is my cropped image on a white background?

You probably saved it as a JPEG – this format does not support transparency. Save cropped subjects as PNG or WebP.

On how many devices can I use the license?

This depends on the purchased license. The number of devices is specified at the time of purchase.

How do I update Photomizer 4?

The app checks for new versions itself and notifies you. Updates can be installed directly from the notification.
