Device Driver Check
Checking for new device drivers is the main task of SecuPerts Driver Updater. Existing device drivers are compared with our database, which contains the latest drivers for various devices. Subsequently, an update is downloaded and automatically installed for devices with outdated drivers. This process consists of 3 steps:
If outdated drivers are on your system, this can severely impair its performance. Therefore, it is important to keep your drivers up to date. After the first launch of the software, you will be prompted to perform an initial check of your installed drivers. Various devices on your system will be checked and compared with our database. The progress bar shows you the remaining time and the number of drivers found. At the bottom, you will find the designation of the respective devices.
Your system will be checked for the following devices:
If you want to check your system again, click "Start system check" in the bottom right of the next window.
Results
The check provides a list of your installed devices as a result. Devices for which a driver update is necessary are at the top of this list. Each entry includes the name and class of the device, the date of the installed driver, and, if available, the date of the latest driver. In addition, a traffic light display indicates how urgently a driver update is needed. The "More Info" button also includes the provider of the respective driver.
Update
The "Update" button within each list entry starts the download of the respective driver. If you want to update all drivers at once, click the "Update All" button at the bottom right. If individual drivers should be ignored, click the "Exclude" button next to the corresponding driver. This removes the entry from the list. It can be restored via the settings under the Exclusion List tab.
Once one or more drivers have been updated, it is important to restart your system. This ensures that the old drivers are replaced.
Device Driver Backup
Backing up installed drivers is particularly important. If a problem occurs, you can undo the changes. You can either back up all drivers or only selected ones (for experts only). Once you have chosen an option, start the backup with the "Backup Now" button. The process can be stopped by clicking the "Cancel" button. You can select the storage location for the backed-up drivers in the settings under the Folders tab.
Device Driver Restore
Under Device Driver Restore, you will find a list of all drivers you have previously backed up. Each entry corresponds to a driver. In addition to the name, the device class, version, and backup date are also displayed. You can restore the backed-up drivers individually using the "Restore" button next to a list entry. Alternatively, backups can also be removed using the "Delete" button to free up space on your system. After successfully restoring one or more drivers, you should restart your system to complete the restoration.
Settings
The settings allow you to make various adjustments to SecuPerts Driver Updater. Additionally, storage locations for downloaded drivers and backups can be specified. The exclusion list can also be edited here. In total, the settings are divided into 4 areas:
