Quick Guide

This quick guide will walk you through the most important functions of the program step by step.

Starting the Program

To start the program, please go to 'Start > All Programs > Engelmann Software > Simply Good Pictures 6'.

After Starting the Program

After the program has started, you will see the main view. To optimize an image, it must first be loaded into the program. To do this, please click on "Open File".

Selecting an Image

In the dialog that opens, navigate to the folder containing the images to be optimized. Then select one of the images and click "Open Photo". If your images are not displayed, it could be because they are not in the correct format. You can see which formats "Simply Good Pictures 6" supports further up.

Optimizing the Image

First, you have the option to let "Simply Good Pictures 6" perform the optimization fully automatically. Alternatively, you can also perform the optimization manually. If you choose the automated option, set the switch next to "Automatic Optimization" to "On". In this case, you do not need (and cannot) use any further optimization options. To perform the optimization manually, please set the switch to "Off". In this case, the corresponding slider will be available to you to adjust the "strength" of the optimization.

You can operate "Automatic Color Adjustment" in the same way. Set it to "On" if you want "Simply Good Pictures 6" to perform color corrections automatically. If you also want to do this manually, set this option to "Off" and use the corresponding slider.

Saving Your Optimized Photo

Once you have optimized the image, you should save it. A simple click on "Save As..." is sufficient. In the dialog that opens, you have the option to give your image a different name, e.g., append "_optimized". Another click on "Save" saves the optimized image in the selected location. If you prefer the optimized image to always be saved in the same location as the original, you can use the "Use source directory as output directory" option in the settings.

"Simply Good Pictures 6" provides detailed information about your images. You can access this via the menu item 'Image Information', which is located in the menu bar at the top under 'Edit'. The following information will be displayed:

Furthermore, you can also open the image's storage location directly from here via 'Open directory...'.

To optimize your image, you can choose between automatic and manual optimization.

Automatic

If you want "Simply Good Pictures 6" to handle the optimization, simply activate the box next to the "Automatic" option.

Manual Optimization

It can happen that automatic optimization does not achieve the results you want. In these cases, you can easily optimize the image "by hand". To do this, deactivate the box next to the "On" option. From now on, the slider below will be available to you. With this, you can set the "strength" of the optimization and adjust it to your wishes.

Additionally, you can now activate or deactivate the "Automatic Color Adjustment" option. If you have activated it, "Simply Good Pictures 6" will take care of the color correction. If you also want to perform color correction manually, deactivate the box. In this case, the second slider will also be available to you, with which you can manually adjust the color correction.

Just like the image information, you can access the "(Image) Rotate Left/Right" options via the menu bar at the top of the program. First click on "Edit" and then select the direction of rotation.

Clicking the "Save As..." button opens a file browser where you can navigate to the location where you want to save the optimized image. Another click on "Save" saves the optimized image with the entered file name at the desired location.

If you prefer the optimized image to always be saved in the same location as the original, you can use the "Use source directory as output directory" option in the settings.
