It's been a good 25 years since one of the most successful products was launched: Sony's PlayStation 2 (PS2). The PlayStation 2 was released in Japan on March 4, 2000. In Europe, it came to market on November 24, 2000. With over 155 million units sold, the PS2 was definitely the best-selling console in the world. And that record won't change anytime soon. We extend our warmest congratulations to the PS2 and wish our former partner Sony continued success. And of course, we also hope for continued great ideas for hardware, innovative new consoles, and many exciting games.
Partnership with Sony
Former partner Sony?
Exactly, you read that right. What many didn't know: From 2005 to 2008, we were a partner of the Japanese tech giant. Even before the official release of the PlayStation 3 in Europe – on March 23, 2007 – we already had the console in-house. And along with it, the titles Call of Duty, Tony Hawk's, and NBA 2k7. At that time, Sony had few collaborations in Germany. This made us one of the first owners of a Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) in this country. In the beginning, we spent many hours each day playing the numerous great games. ;-)
Converting Videos for PlayStation
Around the same time as the Sony PlayStation 3, another innovative product came onto the market – the Format Converter. This software is the predecessor of today's MyFormatConverter. Besides converting and transforming any audio and video formats, the Format Converter was also one of the first tools that allowed users to convert videos precisely for playback on the Sony PlayStation 3. The Sony PS3 format was already included in the first version as part of a comprehensive profile list.
Converting for Gaming Consoles: Still a Popular Feature Today
Even today, converting formats for gaming consoles is an important feature of MyFormatConverter. No matter where a video originally comes from, with just a few clicks, you have it in the right format for playback on the PlayStation. Optimal format, correct resolution, accurate framerate. And the recommended bitrate settings for audio and video are also correct.
In addition to the PlayStation, over time, other video profiles for popular gaming consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox, have been added. Even if these consoles can't quite match Sony's PlayStation in terms of sales figures, they are important profiles for the software's users.

Here you can find more information about MyFormatConverter, a multi-media tool that allows you to do much, much more than just convert videos for gaming consoles. You can also get a free trial version of the tool from us.
