Microsoft itself offers you the option to download an up-to-date ISO file for your Windows 10. Additionally, with just a few clicks, you can create a bootable USB stick or a bootable DVD. This way, you'll have a working backup ready for any eventuality, allowing you to perform a fresh installation of your system at any time. What you need for this is Microsoft's Media Creation Tool. In this tip, we'll show you how to get the ISO file and bootable media using this tool, and we'll also briefly guide you through the installation process.
Step 1: Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft
To get the ISO file, first download the Media Creation Tool. This is the easiest way. You can get the tool completely free directly from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows10
Step 2: Save and launch the Media Creation Tool
Save the approximately 20 MB installer to your hard drive and then open it by double-clicking. Immediately after accepting the license terms, select the option: "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC".
Step 3: Determine language, edition, and architecture
Simply accept the "recommended options for this PC" or redefine these points as desired.

Step 4: ISO file or bootable USB stick
The easiest option is the Windows 10 ISO file. This will be created and simply saved to your hard drive. Then, the download of Windows 10 in the latest version begins. The ISO file requires approximately 5 GB of space.
For the USB stick, you will need a USB stick with at least 8 GB (we recommend 16 GB or more). Don't forget: All data on the stick will be lost during this process. Afterwards, you will have a bootable USB stick.

Step 5: Burn the ISO file from the hard drive to a DVD
Once you have completely downloaded the ISO file to your hard drive, you can burn it to a DVD – directly via Explorer. Proceed as follows:
- Insert a blank DVD into the DVD drive
- Right-click on the ISO file
- Burn disc image using the native burning function
- Burn
