Photomizer 4: AI Photo Restorer processes images locally instead of in the cloud
New version restores old photos, removes unwanted people and objects, swaps backgrounds, and creates a professional portrait look with targeted background blur
Dortmund, September 8, 2026 – Faded family photos, distracting people in a vacation picture, or a busy background: Photomizer 4 makes complex image corrections accessible even to users without prior knowledge. The new generation of image editing software from Engelmann Software combines proven automatic one-click optimization with classic tools and modern AI functions. What's special: AI processing also takes place locally on your own computer. Photos do not need to be uploaded to a cloud or transferred to third parties.
Photomizer automatically analyzes photos and adjusts color, contrast, exposure, and sharpness, among other things. This helps with typical problems such as underexposed images, dull colors, or a lack of clarity. Multiple photos can be processed in a single pass using batch processing. In addition to common image formats, the software supports numerous RAW formats and preserves existing Exif and IPTC metadata when saving.
Rescue old memories and remove distracting image content
The Ultimate Edition extends Photomizer 4 with AI-powered tools. Old and damaged photos can be restored, black-and-white photos automatically colorized, and small images enlarged using upscaling or super-resolution. With "Remove Object," distracting people or objects disappear from a photo; Photomizer intelligently fills the cleared area to match the surrounding image.
Backgrounds can also be isolated or replaced. The new "Soft Blur Background" module creates a portrait look where the subject remains sharp and the background appears soft. If desired, Photomizer automatically recognizes the subject using a BiRefNet subject mask. Alternatively, users can use an AI click or brush to define which area should remain sharp. Two sliders control the strength of the blur and the smooth transition at the subject edges.
"Many people want to improve their photos without having to learn complex image editing or upload personal photos to an online service," says Pit Engelmann, CEO of Engelmann Software GmbH. "Photomizer 4 therefore combines simple operation with powerful local processing – from quick optimization to AI-supported restoration."
